Ben Stiller, another “celeb gone good”? It may be hard to tell … at least, at first.
According to The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Stiller has employed his comedic acting chops and heart for “STILLERSTRONG, stealing great ideas from other charities to build a school in Haiti”, a new YouTube video series (pal Owen Wilson joins Stiller in one hilarious clip) and website. Both are dedicated to raising funds to build a school in Haiti in partnership with Save the Children, an organization that works to help children in the USA and abroad.
Part farce, 100% real, Stiller hopes his yellow Lance Armstrong-inspired headbands (remember those yellow LIVESTRONG wristbands?) will get folks to open their pocket books for the school:
So what’s with the yellow headbands? well, besides my homage to the great Lance Armstrong … I had this opportunity to visit Haiti this summer. It’s an incredible country, with amazing people and a vibrant culture. It is also one of the most impoverished places in the Western Hemisphere. When I was there, I visited a school in Cévérine.
With Save the Children, because I assume they know how to save kids, we are raising money to expand the school, dig a drinking water well there and set up a self-sustainable crop field to help the residents keep the school going for years to come. It is only one school, but hopefully our efforts will lead to greater awareness for the education needs of the children in Haiti. if not, maybe it will bring the headband back into fashion.
Interested in supporting Stiller’s cause? you can text-2-give, donate via credit card or paypal or buy a headband all through his website here.

Readers, What do you think about Stiller “stealing” good charitable ideas to benefit his own cause? Funny or farce gone bad?
