READER REACTION: What do you leave for Santa?

Every Christmas Eve those of you who celebrate Christmas often leave cookies and note and more for Santa. We want to know what tradition you have in your home and what do you leave for Santa on Christmas Eve?

Send an email to online editor Erik Gliedman at egliedman@th-record.com with your name, hometown and what you leave. We will publish many of your responses in print.

The Haskin Family – Pine Bush

We leave cookies & milk for Santa & carrots for the reindeer

Susan – Greenville

Our tradition is to leave Santa a thank you note with some cookies, chocolate and a nice glass of wine – usually cabernet. We also leave the reindeer carrots on the front porch which they usually eat most of – they just leave a few small pieces.

The Baisley Family, Dingmans Ferry, PA

We leave a ham sandwich every year. 5 years ago, my husband and I were up late…preparing. the cookies and carrots sat out for Santa and his reindeer. Next to them was a sandwich my daughter had eaten half of prior to rushing up to bed. As the wee hours passed, my husband, hungry for all his assembling, finished off the sandwich, leaving only a few crumbs and went to bed. in the morning, the girls woke up and before long they noticed that Santa had eaten a few bites of the cookies they had left. at that point my littlest stated, “Santa must really love ham sandwiches. he ate all of my sandwich and only had room for a few bites of desert!” so, now we always leave Santa a ham sandwich and he eats it all, thankfully, every year.

Nicholas- Callicoon Center

Gary Karr – Port Jervis

Its always been cookies and milk here.My kids out grew it but I am blessed with my little grandchildren spending christmas with me.so the tradition will live on once again.

We leave Santa cookies and beer. Preferably Budweiser.

Zina Mazzone – Pine Bush

My six year old son Nicholas leaves a quick note for Santa saying “Thank you for coming” along with milk and cookies. We also leave oats and carrots for the reindeer. Of course Santa takes the time to leave a note for Nicholas saying “Thank you for the snacks and letting him know he’s been a very good boy this year!”

I hope this tradition lives on for a few more years!
